Alivia and Clay had a gorgeous day for their Richmond Engagement at Maymont Park!
To say these two lovebirds have known each other for a while would be an understatement considering they met back when they were in kindergarten playing soccer. After knowing each other that long, it was a quick ‘Yes’ when Clay popped the question at Saude Creek Vineyard!
Maymont Park is a gemstone for engagement photos here in Richmond! Strolling through this 100-acre park and gardens with Clay and Alivia was great fun. We ventured through the Italian Garden to capture some images. The Italian Garden at Maymont Park was influenced by classical elements developed in Italy during the 15th and 16th centuries. Many Italian characteristics are apparent in the garden, such as fountains, geometrically-shaped beds, sculptures, and a long pergola with a trellis-like roof.
Maymont Park's Japanese Garden is the oldest public Japanese Garden on the East Coast. The Japenese Garden has a subtleness that adds a calming effect while visiting it, almost as if entering a different continent. Many design elements, such as a cascading waterfall, a winding waterway, stonework, paths, and bridges, were used to create the illusion of an old, naturally developed landscape.
Clay and Alivia had two outfit changes for their engagement pictures. Alivia wore a dress with the perfect shade that complimented the flowers around the gardens in her more formal outfit. Their second outfit was more casual and allowed them to be more relaxed in the natural element of the gardens. There are so many photo opportunities around this gorgeous property that we could have explored all day.
We can't wait to photograph their wedding day this fall at The Estate at Independence! After talking with Clay and Alivia about the wedding details, I can tell their wedding will be stunning. For now, enjoy some of my favorites from their Richmond engagement at Maymont Park!
