Makayla and Harvey’s Big Spring Farm Engagement session in Lexington, VA was sunny, gorgeous, and oh so very cold!

Big Spring Farm is a farm wedding venue in Lexington that features a beautiful 10-acre lake, sweeping fields and mountain views for days. We could have wandered around taking photos here for hours except. . . yeah, it was really cold.

Harvey proposed to Makayla after they had hiked up Peaks of Otter, and the two originally had hoped to shoot their engagement session there. But an especially cold Virginia winter that brought lots of ice storms meant the parkway would be closed.

When they shared that they loved the mountain views and natural surroundings, I thought of Big Spring Farm in Lexington! This wedding venue is a gem and its surrounding land is so beautiful. Located about an hour from Charlottesville, it was an easy two-hour-drive down the interstate from Richmond for me! The couple lives in the Covington area, so it was even closer for them!

These two were such troopers on this 27-degree day (with the wind chill making it feel way colder.) They definitely deserve a medal or something for putting up with my just-one-more-photo self.

These two will be getting married this spring at River Uplands Farm in Millboro, VA at another beautiful Virginia farm wedding venue! We’re so excited to be working with these two and can’t wait ‘til their wedding day!
